Crystal Mountain Plans to Keep Skiing Right Into Summer

Crystal Mountain, WA – The calendar may read May, but with over seven feet of new snow in the past four weeks the skiing is still great at Washington State’s Crystal Mountain.nAs of Tuesday Crystal’s season snowfall total was 575 inches, just a few inches shy of beating the record 598 inches recorded during the 1998-99 season. March brought more skiers to the slopes than Crystal had seen in over a decade.

With the near-record snowpack Crystal plans on staying open for skiing until the snow melts. Crystal is the only resort in Washington open for skiing past May 1, making it the longest ski season in Washington State.

“A few factors have allowed us to stay open longer, but the obvious reason is the deep snow pack. It looks like we’ll be skiing into July,” said Crystal Mountain spokeswoman Tiana Enger.

Get closer to the sun on May 5 during Crystal’s Cinco de Mayo fiesta on the sundeck with live music, beer specials, sombreros and tacos, weather permitting. Neon one-pieces and spandex will be covering the slopes on Retro Gaper Day, May 7, with an 80’s rock band playing on the sundeck to provide retro inspiration.
