American Eagle Offering New Flights into Aspen from Dallas, L.A.

Fort Worth, TX – American Eagle Airlines, a regional affiliate of American Airlines, this week announced it will begin nonstop seasonal service between Aspen/Pitkin County Airport in Colorado and both Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in Texas, and Los Angeles International Airport in California beginning Dec. 15. Eagle will operate the daily trips with two-class CRJ-700 jet aircraft. The service will run through the ski and snowboard season from Dec. 15 through April 2, 2012; then resume June 14 through Aug. 20, 2012 for summer travelers. Customers may begin booking the new service beginning this Monday.

“We are pleased to introduce seasonal jet service to Aspen/Snowmass from two of our cornerstone hubs in Dallas/Fort Worth and Los Angeles,” said Gary Foss, Vice President of Marketing and Planning for American’s regional network. “Not only will it provide greater access to all the world-class ski resorts and recreation this beautiful and cosmopolitan area has to offer, but it will also provide Pitkin County residents with convenient connections to destinations throughout the American Airlines global network, as well as destinations served by our oneworld partners, including Sydney, Melbourne and Tokyo.”

“This exciting announcement is the result of years of pursuit that wouldn’t be possible without the foresight and collaboration of many community partners,” said Bill Tomcich, President of central reservations agency Stay Aspen Snowmass. “AA’s new service into Aspen/Snowmass fills a long-standing void and will make it easier than ever to travel from Texas, South Florida, and Australia – along with dozens of other markets.”

Indeed, the service does in fact fill a void left open after Delta Air Lines pulled out of Aspen last winter and Frontier Airline announced last August that the 2010-11 ski and snowboard season would be their last in Aspen. United helped to fill empty gates at Aspen/Pitkin County Airport when it announced last September that it would begin air service into Aspen from Houston via its United Express subsidiary from Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago.
