Park City’s Main Street Restaurants Offer Expanded Outdoor Dining

Park City, UT – Visitors to Park City Historic District have seen an increase in al fresco dining venues this summer, with nine restaurants in the Utah ski resort town now offering seasonal outdoor dining on intimate curbside wooden decks constructed for the summer on Main Street. This is an increase from four restaurants in 2010.

Now in its second year, the patios placed on Main Street are an effort to develop Main Street’s outdoor dining capacity and celebrate the scenic summer views of the historic Old Town area.  Open air dining on Main Street is a popular summer activity that has previously been limited to only a handful of restaurants with existing patio facilities.

“Sidewalk patios are very attractive for diners looking to enjoy a bite to eat during Park City’s warm summers,” said Alison Butz, Executive Director of the Historic Park City Alliance (HPCA). “The patios were a hit in 2010 and encouraged more than twice as many restaurants to construct a deck for 2011. We’re happy to see Park City restaurateurs embrace such a creative idea.”

The concept to integrate seasonal sidewalk patios onto Main Street was developed by Park City entrepreneur Steve McComb, owner of Bistro 412 and Cisero’s Restaurant and Nightclub. McComb presented the idea to construct curbside dining decks to the HPCA Board of Directors in March 2010, and, upon support from the HPCA and the Park City Municipal Corporation, multiple other restaurants followed suit.

Now in its second year, nine Main Street restaurants have constructed summer patios, including 501 on Main, Bandits, Bankok Thai, Bistro 412, Ciseros, Eating Establishment, Flannagans, Main Street Pizza and Noodle and Shabu.

Also running through Sept. 25, the Park Silly Sunday Market fills Main Street with craft, food and farm vendors as well as live music every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Plentiful parking is available near the top of Main and in the China Bridge parking structure on Sweede Alley. Many of Main Street’s small, locally owned stores host sidewalk sales and don rainbow windsocks to indicate “Silly Sunday Specials” in the restaurants and shops. The Park City Museum and galleries are open for strollers as well.
