Weather Forces Further Schedule Changes at New Zealand Winter Games

Lake Wanaka, New Zealand – A massive snowstorm covering New Zealand has forced Winter Games New Zealand  organizers to make further changes to the competition schedule.

Tuesday’s scheduled cross country freestyle skiing has been canceled due to gale force winds and blizzard conditions at the Snow Farm. There is no contingency day. The awards ceremony for Sunday’s sprint race is at this stage scheduled for noon Wednesday at the Snow Farm Lodge.

The Freeski Slopstyle, the practice for which was canceled on Sunday and the main event first postponed to Tuesday, is now scheduled to take place on Thursday at Snow Park NZ with practice starting at 8 a.m. and heats starting at 9:15 a.m. Finals will run beginning at 2 p.m.
