Westford, MA – For the second time this month a skier has fallen from a chairlift in Massachusetts.
This time it was at Nashoba Valley in Westford on Tuesday afternoon. Following the incident on the Sundown Triple Chair the unidentified 7-year-old girl was transported to UMASS Medical Center in Worcester with a reported back injury.
The victim, part of part of Concord Recreation’s after-school program, was reportedly riding the chairlift with a friend when she fell an estimated 17 feet from the lift as its safety bar was raised near the top. Ski area owner Al Fletcher told the Lowell Sun newspaper that there were no mechanical problems with the lift.
Earlier this month, John “Jack” Street, 18 of Upton, Mass., fell from a chairlift at Ski Ward in Shrewsbury. He was pronounced dead at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester.
