Carrabassett Valley, ME – Just two days after a Nova Scotia man struck a tree and was killed at Sugarloaf last week, a New Hampshire man was airlifted from the Maine ski resort with a severe head injury after he slid off a trail and struck a tree as well.

Nicholas Jones, 24, of Bedford, N.H., was unconscious when attended to by Sugarloaf ski patrollers on the side of the intermediate King’s Landing trail after catching an edge at mid-day on Saturday. He regained consciousness in Sugarloaf’s first aid clinic before he was transported by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he underwent surgery for a head injury.

No word on Jones’ condition is currently available. He was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
