Keystone, CO – Keystone Resort in Colorado recorded its third death in as many weeks on Tuesday.
William Emberton, 72, of Stonington, Conn., was found face down in the snow alongside Keystone’s expert Geronimo run on Tuesday afternoon. Emberton died of traumatic brain injury and a broken neck, according to the Summit County Coroner’s Office. He was wearing a helmet.
Emberton’s death was the third at Keystone and the 11th in Colorado thus far this ski season. Just this past Sunday, a 58-year-old Georgia man died of blunt force trauma after skiing into the trees alongside a trail on North Peak. And on Jan. 25, a 54-year-old Colorado man was found alongside the intermediate Jacques St. James trail on Dercum Peak. He died of a fractured neck.
