Alpine Mountain will be sold via a sealed bid auction organized by Renaissance Auction Group of Reading, Penn., that closes on Sept. 18.  The winning bidder will secure three lifts and 103 acres of ski runs, the base lodge with restaurant facility, a maintenance building, snowmaking equipment, groomers, a ski patrol building, tubing hill and other ski area equipment.

The ski area’s current owner, Appletree Resource Group, purchased the mountain out of bankruptcy at a county tax sale two years ago. They now say that they hope to pass the property on to a new owner with a bigger vision for the ski area as Appletree returns to its core business of managing residential properties.

Alpine Mountain first opened in the 1950s as Penn Hills Ski Area.
