Organizers Prepare for Inaugural International Women’s Ski Day

Seattle, WA – K2 Skis and the K2 Ski Alliance, an organization designed to help unite female skiers, has announced the first annual International Women’s Ski Day (IWSD). On Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, women from around the world will come together to celebrate skiing with their daughters, sisters, mothers and girlfriends.

“Although promoted by K2, International Women’s Ski Day should be celebrated by all females, regardless of what brand they ski, where they live or their level of experience,” said Alyssa Clark, K2 Skis’ Marketing Coordinator and Women’s Ski Team Manager. “IWSD is simply a way for girls to get outside, ski and enjoy each other’s company.”

An interactive map will soon be posted on K2’s website to allow participants to “pin” ski-related events to specific locations anywhere in the world. The site will act as a constantly evolving informational resource for women to plan anything from an organized group lesson to a fun afternoon of après.

Those who are looking to participate but are lacking ski partners in their area are encouraged to connect with members of the K2 Ski Alliance via the online, interactive Google map. Ski Alliance team members will be hosting events at local ski areas throughout the world including major hubs at Washington’s Crystal Mountain Resort and Colorado’s Beaver Creek Resort.

  1. Outdoor Women’s Alliance is co-hosting an event in Big Cottonwood Canyon at Solitude on the 14th in celebration of this! We’ve got skis and other things to giveaway—it’s gonna be a great time! I’m glad K2 is keeping this open to all brands in the industry; being inclusive shows a strong brand. Very impressed!
