Panorama (BC), Canada – Panorama Mountain Village Inc. today announced that the ski resort in the B.C. Interior is installing a new state-of-the-art Doppelmayr Eco-Drive quad chairlift, which will be ready for the first day of the 2014-15 ski season.
Construction will begin in April on the new fixed-grip quad, Panorama’s sixth, which will service terrain for novice to intermediate skiers. The lift will connect riders from the base of the mountain to wide and gentle trails like Ski Tip Way and Stringer. It will also enhance the ski-in/ski-out flexibility of Trappers Ridge, Panorama’s newest residential neighborhood.
Doppelmayr will oversee and complete the installation on behalf of Panorama Mountain Village. The chair boasts an uphill capacity of 1,500 people per hour with a length of 788 meters (2,585 feet) and a vertical rise of 163 meters (535 feet).
“This is the first significant new infrastructure on the mountain in more than 10 years,” says Steve Paccagnan, President and CEO of Panorama Mountain Village, “In addition to the installation of the quad chair, we’re also improving the current novice ski zone. The overall result will be a space perfect for young families and novice skiers with terrain that’s all about progressive learning and fun in the snow. The next phase will see the development of a first-class learning center.”
The chairlift will be ideal for summer activities as well. Paccagnan notes, “The new lift opens endless opportunities to enhance our summer operation. We’re looking at downhill and cross-country mountain bike terrain, rope courses, zip lines and unique wedding venues.”
Additionally, Panorama Mountain Village will expand its snowmaking system to cover the area serviced by the new chairlift.
“This is just one of many exciting developments underway at the resort. The new Greywolf Golf Course clubhouse opens in summer and Phase 1 of the Trappers Ridge residential subdivision is already 80% sold. There’s real momentum here, it’s an exciting time to be at Panorama,” Paccagnan said.
