North America’s Most Expensive Ski Resorts

Park City, UT – North America’s two most expensive ski resorts to spend a night in are located in Utah, according to the results of a study released this week conducted by the online booking website CheapHotels.org.

Utah’s Deer Valley, located in Park City, is the most expensive ski resort in North America, according to the survey that compared all major ski resorts in the USA and Canada based on the cost of their lodging. The month of February served as the basis of comparison.

According to CheapHotels.org officials, to stay in Deer Valley Resort ski bunnies will have to spend $395 per night during February. Even at that price they’ll be able to stay in only the most affordable double room. Second most expensive on the list, also in Utah, is Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, with an average per-night rate of $312.

Snowbird officials, however, disagree with their place in CheapHotels.org’s rankings, arguing that their average room-only rate is a significantly lower $269, which would drop the Utah resort’s spot to fifth on the CheapHotels.org list. “Snowbird disagrees with the rates, and a rate search shows better deals,” asserts resort spokesperson Emily Moench.

Following in third place in CheapHotels.org’s survey is Colorado’s Beaver Creek, where overnight visitors will have to spend at least $289 nightly for a double room, with neighboring Vail Mountain close behind in fourth at $281.

What about the other two resorts in Park City? Canyons, Utah’s largest resort in terms of lift-served acreage, ranks sixth most expensive ($214 per night) on the survey, while Deer Valley’s neighbor, the Park City Mountain Resort proves itself much more affordable. In fact, at an average of only $111 per night for the most affordable double room, Park City Mountain is not even among North America’s Top 20 most expensive resorts, according to CheapHotels.org. That, however, calls into question whether or not the website’s survey compared ski-in/ski-out lodging at some resorts and not others, as a search fails to locate any slopeside lodging even approaching $111 in Park City next month.

The following table lists North America’s 20 most expensive ski resorts as ranked by CheapHotels.org. The rates indicated reflect the average price for the most affordable double room at each respective resort during this upcoming February.
