Whitefish, MT - Big Mountain Resort will host the Montana ski and snowboard resort's first annual Skier Cross competition this weekend, open to alpine skiers on March 24, and telemark skiers on March 25.

“Groups of four will race simultaneously down the course, with the top racers advancing to the next round of this tournament style event,” said Josh Knight, events manager for the resort. “Double elimination ensures every rider the chance to finish strong and have fun. The course is on the backside of Big Mountain, accessible from Chair 7. It starts on lower Marmot run and winds down all of Whitetail over jumps, berms, and some sweet rollers.”

Registration for both events happens each morning from 8 – 9 a.m., with inspection from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., and racing from 11 – 4 p.m. Awards will be given one hour after the last race on the deck below Moguls.

The event is limited to the first 100 athletes, with the first 60 receiving a free t-shirt. Cost for amateurs is $25 per event or $35 per event for pros. Discounted lift passes are $28 for competitors.
