Windham, NY - Over 20 inches of new snow last week may make the Catskill Mountains look more like they do in winter than in spring, but New York's Windham Mountain ski resort is still gearing up for the upcoming Spring Fling weekend. This weekend's spring celebration at Windham comes complete with pond skimming, DJ entertainment, outdoor refreshments, fun and games.

If you've never witnessed pond skimming, you're missing out on some traditional spring skiing fun. Lift ticket and season pass holders will try their luck traversing a 75-foot pond of icy water on skis or a snowboard. Join in or watch in awe as the event gets underway at noon on Saturday. Then on Sunday check out the Catskill Mountain Series competitors going big and filming their best tricks on the mountain for the Film and Photo Big Air.

This weekend will also be the last chance to try some of Windham's facilities this winter. The last runs in the NASTAR course this season will take place as the course will be open Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and possibly Sunday as well. It's also the last weekend for the Mountaintop Adventure Park, where you can enjoy tubing, romping on the bungee trampoline or ascending the rock wall.
