Christchurch, New Zealand – A 21-year-old American woman has died in a Christchurch hospital of injuries sustained while skiing at Mt. Hutt in Methven last Thursday.nAuthorities have yet to identify the woman, a student visiting the New Zealand ski area who hit rocks while skiing off-trail at the resort. Ski patrol attended to her injuries before she was airlifted to the hospital in Christchurch, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Ski area manager Dave Wilson indicated that the victim’s family is already in Christchurch, and a memorial service is planned. The ski area is conducting its own investigation into the incident.
