Falls Creek, Australia – Blizzard conditions in Australia’s Snowy Mountains this week forced cancellation of all four scheduled days of competition at Stylewars, a 4Star event on the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour.nWith event host Falls Creek Resort reporting its biggest dump since 1992, visibility was a concern for organizers who decided that no competition was be to held and that only the annual 28 Stairs event would continue.
This was a huge disappointment for riders, who were ready to hit up the park featuring two huge jumps (a 70-foot step-down and an 85-foot gap jump), a giant snow butter-box and an up-and-over pyramid wall-ride.
The 28 Stairs event brought Stylewars 2010 to a close, and although no Stylewars Grand Master was crowned this year, organizers are confident that Mother Nature will shine on the event’s 10-year anniversary next year, Stylewars 2011.
Following the cancellation the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour returns to New Zealand for the final stop on its southern hemisphere leg this year, the 3Star Billabong Bro Down, scheduled for Sept. 11 at Snow Park NZ near Lake Wanaka.
