Lenzerheide, Switzerland - Austrian Marlies Schild took a big step Thursday toward clinching the World Cup overall ski racing title, finishing third - but ahead of her main challengers - in the last super G of the season. Julia Mancuso (Olympic Valley, CA) moved back into third place overall as she finished seventh behind world champion Anja Paerson of Sweden, who won the race.
Lenzerheide, Switzerland - The U.S. Ski Team's Bode Miller (Bretton Woods, NH) clinched his second World Cup super G title Thursday as he tied for fourth place in the last SG of the season. Norway's Aksel Lund Svindal won for the second time in 24 hours to close the overall points gap between himself and defending champ Benjamin Raich of Austria to three points.
Tarvisio, Italy - Liz Stephen (East Montpelier, VT/Burke Mountain Academy/U.S. B Team) skied to seventh place Wednesday in the women's 5K freestyle race on the second day of the 2007 FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships. Alexa Turzian (Sun Valley, ID/Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation) was 16th in the field of 83.
Tarvisio, Italy - World Championships bronze medalist Anssi Koivuranta of Finland led the jumping and held off Austrian Marco Pichlmayer to capture the gold medal in nordic combined Wednesday at the 2007 FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships. Skyler Keate (Salt Lake City/National Sports Foundation/U.S. B Team) had the top U.S. result, finishing 37th.
Airolo, Switzerland - The U.S. Freestyle Ski Team has named 26 athletes to compete today through Monday at the 2007 FIS Freestyle Junior World Ski Championships in Airolo.
Panorama, BC - Tim Jitloff (Reno, NV) and Kiley Staples (Park City, UT) won races Wednesday as NorAm Finals got underway at Panorama Mountain Village. Jitloff clinched the giant slalom title and U.S. skiers took four of six podium spots, 15 of the top 20 places in the two events.
Drammen, Norway - Andy Newell (Shaftsbury, VT) finished 12th Wednesday in the annual classic technique sprint World Cup race through Drammen, a village about 25 miles west of Oslo. Torin Koos (Leavenworth, WA) was 15th.
Arte Therme, Italy - Following the cancellation of the last World Cup of the year scheduled for Abtenau, Austria, the U.S. Disabled Alpine Ski Team opened World Cup Finals Monday in Italy. In three days of racing, Stephani Victor (sit-ski; Park City, UT) wrapped up the overall World Cup title and Crystal Globes in both slalom and giant slalom.

Whistler (BC), Canada - Like a global warming-impacted glacier, the mountain has retreated from the cities of Toronto, Montreal and Calgary, but for one lucky winner of the Old Spice Experience contest, the retreat is only temporary, and she’ll soon be in hot pursuit of the big mountain experience.

Stowe, VT - Disabled Sports USA (DS/USA), a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, has been named the designated charity for the 21st annual AIG Ski Cup Challenge and Charity Race, currently taking place through Saturday in Stowe. The AIG Ski Challenge represents a major insurance industry event which attracts hundreds of risk managers, insurance brokers, and AIG employees, who gather at Stowe Mountain Resort for a series of business meetings, events and ski races.

Bartlett, NH - Attitash ski and snowboard resort in Bartlett is gearing up for a full line up of events in March beginning with the first weekend of Bud Light Spring Mania this Saturday. The 3rd Annual Spread Eagle World Championship, live 70's & 80's music and a best retro costume contest will frame the festivities for the coming weekend.

Portland, ME - March is a prime month for skiing and snowboarding, and in celebration of longer days and the deepest snow pack of the season, ski areas across Maine have scheduled events day and night to keep skiers and riders engaged throughout the resort of the month.

Whistler (BC), Canada - Whistler Blackcomb has kicked off Phase Two of the B.C. ski and snowboard resort's “If Ullr Was a Girl” contest. Ten invited professional skiers and snowboarders will join the top open athletes from ifullrwasagirl.com to battle it out for a $25,000 CDN prize purse.

Arte Therme, Italy - Canadian Para-Alpine skiers Lauren Woolstencroft (Vancouver, BC/Calgary, AB) and Chris Williamson (Toronto, ON) both capped off the Para-Alpine World Cup ski racing season Wednesday with Super G Crystal Globes.

Lenzerheide, Switzerland - Austrian Marlies Schild put some distance on two of her three challengers for the women's overall World Cup skiing title Wednesday, finishing second behind World Cup champion Renate Goetschl of Austria in a downhill with the U.S. Ski Team's Julia Mancuso (Olympic Valley, CA) fifth and Austrian Nicole Hosp sixth.
