Ludlow, VT - With the tardiness of winter’s arrival this year, it’s hard to believe that spring is already just around the corner. Okemo Mountain Resort’s commitment to snowmaking means there will be plenty of coverage for the longer days and warmer temperatures ahead at the central Vermont ski and snowboard resort.

Montpelier, VT - Vermont's Department of Tourism and Marketing has received approval to spend an additional $250,000 to promote winter in Vermont.

Bennington, NH - Crotched Mountain ski and snowboard area has announced a $99 pass to ski or ride the New Hampshire mountain for the rest of the 2007-08 winter season.

Mansfield, OH - This Saturday, Ohio's Snow Trails ski and snowboard area will host the Salomon Jib Academy, an International Freeski event held in Japan, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, France, Canada and only five locations in the United States in 2007.

Keystone, CO - Every Thursday night in March, Keystone Resort gives skiers and riders a chance to throw down their best trick in the Colorado ski and snowboard resort's A51 Terrain Park and win prizes. Keystone will host the Sundown Showdown every Thursday in March from 4:30-6:00 p.m.to give skiers and riders the chance to showcase their abilities and win prizes for their shredding abilities. The rail jam series is for both skiers and snowboarders, male and female, and is free to enter. The sessions are open to all ability levels.

Taos Ski Valley, NM - A favorable southern flow keeps pounding Taos Ski Valley with snow and conditions are ready for the second annual Salomon Freeride Championships. "Things are on track," says Chief of Race Tom Winter. "Conditions on The Ridge and at other venues are looking really good. We're hoping to add some new zones to this year's comp. Who knows, maybe we'll even have a super-final off the top of Kachina Peak."

Beaupré (QC), Canada - Mont-Sainte-Anne now welcomes guests to ski or snowboard the Quebec ski resort's slopes seven nights a week. Skiers and riders can enjoy the highest night skiing vertical drop in Canada any night they wish until 10 p.m.

Whistler (BC), Canada - Film-making becomes an athletic endeavor at Whistler’s annual 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown. The competition, an integral part of the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival’s line-up, challenges artists to perform feats of speed, endurance and precision, with the call to shoot, edit and produce a three- to five-minute minute digital film set within a 100km (62-mile) radius of Whistler in the space of 72 hours.

Findley Lake, NY - In addition to discounting lift tickets to ski or snowboard beginning March 1, New York State's Peek’n Peak Resort and Conference Center will host Spring Fest this Saturday and Sunday, March 3 and 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Hancock, MA - This weekend will find two special events at Jiminy Peak ski and snowboard resort in western Massachusetts. The resort will hold a Rail Jam on Friday at 7 p.m., and then Sunday is Retro Day at Jiminy Peak.

Steamboat Springs, CO - Steamboat’s 2006/2007 ski season cumulative snowfall surpassed the 250-inch mark at mid-mountain with a series of storms that has dropped three feet of fresh "champagne powder" snow over the past three days, resort officials reported on Tuesday.

South Lake Tahoe, CA - Northern California ski and snowboard resorts have finally emerged from an epic winter storm that left in its wake up to eight feet of new snow, buried cars, and formed too many perma-grins to count. The storm went out with a bang, dropping as much as four feet after resorts closed Monday night.

London, UK - After a variable start to the winter season, ski resorts across Europe have been blanketed with snow and more is predicted to fall this week.

Amsterdam, Netherlands - Head N.V., a global manufacturer and marketer of sports equipment, announced its 4th quarter and 12-month 2006 financial results today. Although net revenues were down 4.2% to €123.3 million in the fourth quarter compared to fourth quarter 2005, operating profit, before restructuring costs, improved by €1.5 million to a profit of €10.6 million. The profit for the period was €3.3 million compared to a profit of €3.5 million in Q4 2005. For the twelve months ended December 31 2006 compared to the twelve months ended December 31 2005, net revenues were up 2.0% to €366.8 million, operating profit before restructuring costs and gain on sale of property increased by €5.1 million to a profit of €20.0 million, and the profit for the period was €4.4 million compared to €6.7 million profit for 2005.

Sapporo, Japan - Czech Katerina Neumannova won her second consecutive 10K freestyle world championships Tuesday as the 2007 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships resumed after a day off. Top American was Northern Michigan University senior Lindsey Weier (Mahtomedi, MN) in 52nd place.
