Ahhh... CJ... The pro mogul tour folded a number of years back due to sponsorship greed. During those days, I think bump skiing was more popular because it was on TV all the time (and very fun to watch... that's defiantely what got me into it). That coverage really helped the sport. I think...

Hey Tony, I know the "slurpy" snow all too well. In southern PA where I ski locally, we get that all the time and it makes for great soft slushy bumps. As you pointed out it is like summer snow. The snow on the Blackcomb Glacier is just like that (and they do salt the courses). One other...

Tony, First off, no seeded bump run that I have seen compares to anything of real value at MJ. MJ is mecca... plain and simple. Some of the more mellow stuff like the lowers of Arrowhead, Derailer, or Sterling may compare to seeded bumps in the east, but that's about it. Even runs like Gandy...

After a re-read of this thread, I agree that it takes minimal effort to make and maintain seeded bumps. At one of my local resorts, they simply groom in rollers or piles of snow across the trail and then take the snowmobiles and zig-zag through the rollers to make the zipper lines. It takes them...

Nope, not CJ Turner... don't know who that is. I am just a 30 something guy trying to do my best in progressing in the sport of mogul skiing. But I wish there were bumps seeds, because I would plant them all over the mountain! However, there was a company in Germany that was making plastic...

First, I would just like to say that we must realize that we are all skiers here and passionate about our sport. I for example, did not start off as a mogul skier, but became one after gaining interest in the 90's, having skied groomers and steeps for 15+ years. I was drawn to mogul skiing...

    why bump skiers rule

Jsul, I got a buddy of mine who owns a shop to hook me and 2 of my buddies from camp up with Twisters and Look PX 14s. The deal on the skis was ok, but the bindings sealed the deal...smokin price. PM me and I can let you know the details and hook you up... only thing is that Dynastar is out of...

I am really happy for Babic... he deserved a win finally. I was also glad to see Heather McPhie take second. They are both great skiers and coaches and definately taught me some things that helped me become a better skier. Yeah, those guys are definately not trying to plant on the front or top...

    why bump skiers rule

The local bumps were raging this past weekend due to the warm weather (70 degrees!). (Tweaked my right knee on my last run... but I should be able to ski out the season.) But as a result, we are approaching our last weekend of local skiing. After this weekend, I will have to drive 3+ hours to...

    why bump skiers rule

You got that right! I second that! Some of the best days are skiing nice soft spring bumps on a 60+ degree day! The spring is a love hate thing for me... I love spring bump skiing, but I hate that the snow is melting and that the end of the season is around the corner. Looks like it will be in...

    why bump skiers rule

Definately! I don't think I have ever met a bump skier (pros included) that is overall happy with their skiing. That is just part of the sport... you are always finding ways to improve, no matter how good you are... just part of the sickness. Skiing bumps is like being addicted to crack, you...

    why bump skiers rule

Man Jim, what a great explanation! Right on with everything you said. Funny, I cut my poles even more the other day. The only thing that I have found with going really short is that you can't plant on the flats when doing drills, but 6-8" shorter than your regular pole size (the old upside down...

Anyone know where I can get a Pair of Dynastar Twisters...

cheap? I blew the edge out on mine and need another pair in a 175. Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW, a shop on the east coast would be best for shipping, unless they are dirt cheap... then it doesn't matter. cj

You bring up a good point. I have heard that Bobby has a knack for coaching, as does Chuck (don't know about Steve D., but one would assume he does also.) Joe definately called it... DBS is the best in the world right now. cj

    olympic mogul predictions

Well Joegm, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. I was way off. The mens comp was much more of a show and they really stepped it up. Toby's run was one of the best I have seen him ski... same for Mikko. Now as far as DBS, he really stepped up and skied better than he has in the WC's he has won... his turns...
