The Scenic Rim hills are about 1 3/4 hours drive from our house. We hiked for about 50 minutes to the Lower Portals waterhole.

Now refer to beer thread.

At this time of year in Queensland you need to have a hike where you can take a dip. No crocs in that area?

No. They have been spotted in the Brisbane river apparently but it’s extremely rare. (I’m sceptical to be honest).
The Burnett River at Bundaberg is widely accepted as the most southerly waterway for crocs.
Speaking of rare snow very occasionally falls on the Border Ranges and Scenic Rim mountains. Mt Barney is only 4400 feet high. Nearby Mt Superbus is SEQ’s highest hill at just over 4500 feet. I was born in the wrong location.
