I used my Warren Miller freebie yesterday at the Canyons. Glad it was a freebie, conditions were not great. They have 4 lifts open, only two highspeed quads- Saddleback and Sun Peak.
Saddleback was always crowded, about a 5 min wait, as it sits at the top of the Gondola from the base. Both blues off of Saddleback (Sun Dancer and Kokopeki) had thin spots, with Sun Dancer actually featuring a few loose rocks getting kicked around on the trail. I was really surprised to see rocks slipping through the man-made base.
Sun Peak was less crowded, and the runs had good snow. But the last big drop back to the lift from any run was immensely scratchy and moguled up.
There was one other slow lift, below the Gondoloa drop off, that met up with a double blue and a black, both with natural snow and both moguled up. Again, I hit rocks on the double blue.
Just wanted to drop a quick read on this place right now. Their "reduced" rate is $59, which blows my mind. Snowbasin has way better snow-making, and was currently at $35 last I checked. I'm pretty confident that they had just as much terrain open if not more, and likely better coverage.
