Sorry that this is a little late but I figured it was still worth a post. I was in Seattle on business so I decided that I would try out some West Coast skiing. I had decided through recommendations and the fact that I had a free ticket  that I would try out Crystal Mtn. This proved to be a really good choice as I was very impressed with the terrain that this resort contains
. Unfortunately, I was not able to truly test it all out due to some really crappy rental skis :x #-o . I arrived at the mtn around 10:00 in the morning as I misjudged badly how long it would take to get there and I also got a little lost #-o . I had brought my own boots with me but I figured I would rent skis when I got there. BAD idea. The skis I got were VERY soft and the bindings would not keep the skis attached to my foot. I even tightened the DIN setting myself over the maximum of 8 that the rental would set it. After coming out of the skis several times on what I would consider lower end advance terrain I decided I had to limit myself to places that I would not get seriously hurt if I pre released and unexpectedly fell. I was still able to ski some pretty good terrain but I looked like a total amateur as I would all of the sudden crash for "no reason". In actuality the stupid skis were coming off under the heavy powder (which always makes for finding the skis interesting) whenever I would try to muscle a turn or if I hit a bump a little too hard. :x :x After a while I was getting pretty pissed ](*,) . But it was a beautiful day and I just couldn?t stay mad. The views were spectacular as Mt. Rainier was bathing in a cloudless sky 8) . The base at the mountain was holding up very well and there was even some powder in the shady section of a lot of the bowls. This place really needs an entire week of investigation to really find all of the best stuff. I feel like I found a lot of it but with a crappy ski/binding setup and the fact that I was skiing alone prevented me from exploring all of the opportunities. I would definitely check this place out again but make sure I brought all of my own equipment. Live and learn.
