Season Ovah!!!

Fabulous day. Perhaps the worst botched forecast of the year as Saturday was scheduled for 40% chance of rain and Sunday was 50%. By Saturday, the forecasts had been changed to mostly sunny with highs in the low 80s both days. But I am glad for the screw up because a party that I had been committed to going to got postponed! Sweet!

This was it folks, last day for me this season. There will definitely still be snow next weekend for the July 4th Holiday Weekend. But it is not going to be worth it and will likely be a lot more unsafe than today was (really no concerns).

Compared to last year (on July 2nd, seven days ahead of today), there was generally less snow but it was more stable (funny how that works!). The run was shorter and a lot narrower and held fewer turns. I think i squeezed off any where between 8-14 turns during my three runs. Also compared to last year, there was almost no snow in the bowl with exception of three small patches as seen in the pictures. The edges of the snow were safe but the path narrow. The last 20 feet or so of the patch was definitely no no terrain. Most biggest fear was the patch resting on a lip of the headwall just above the patch as seen in the pictures. Good bye patch when that sucker slides.

A lot of quebecquis in the ravine today! I chatted with one guy speaking broken English, it was fine trying to communicate with him. I pointed to myself and said "Crazy American" to which he pointed to himself and said "Crazy Canadian." It was a riot. Him and another guy insisted on getting my picture. Third run down, I received a crap load of cheers, clapping, hoots, and hollars. Aw shucks, I am usually a ham better was too focused to completely enjoy the moment, heh! Good times.

Three runs was all I had in me before I ran out of juice. I haven't had a very active Post Lift Season due to weather and schedule conflicts. This was my only day in June and I only got two in May, so I was not at the top of my game physically.

More power to any one going next weekend, but that does it for me. It ain't gonna be worth the hike after this weekend and I am content to wrap up the season now. 32 days, close to last season which is amazing considering I spent 84 days on the DL this season. Almost half my days were earned turns.

Cool River!!!

There are still a few places left for the group discount I found for some ski related psycho-therapy.

What an active week for late June on liftlines.

yes, I'm crazy. Planning to be some June and July turns this coming week, however these turns will be lift serviced. Yes, I'm crazy (that what my mom's says).

Congrats River !

It is me or it melted quite fast this year, compared to year 2003 and previous... (2004 and 2005 were not really representative...)

Thanks, Riv! Glad to see you made the stretch. Fine work!

Next season will be here before we know it.
