Taos Valley Ski report as of 8 AM Monday the 29th is 13" fresh last 24 hours. 11 runs open.

Lift tickets are 50% off. Adults ski for $20 a day until December 17, 2004.

Lodging also 50% off at participating properties. Most affordable doantown lodging is from $29. Link in sig line below.

The steep rocky terrain and light dry snow generally means it's well into January before the steep stuff at Taos is skiable. I was once chastised online for recommending Taos when its reported base was 80 inches because a reader still damaged his skis then.

That said, the prevailing storm track so far this season favors the Southwest, and if it continues Taos will be ready for prime time earlier than normal. But my advice is still wait for the 80 inch base.

Are advertisements part of the "no-bull" ski reports? Just checking.

They're not supposed to be, of course, but I have a limited tolerance unless things get out of hand.

Two years ago, I did the early season Taos deal... had a great time at Taos, Angel Fire and Santa Fe, and the skiing and lodging was insanely cheap.

That said, the opening post of this thread is a pretty egregious plug, and I'm surprised that Marc is letting it stand. Oh well, at least I know where to go in Taos if I need a fix of Pro Vitamin Liquid Nutrition.

We're doing that trip the January week with the MLK holiday in it. We're also going to hit Wolf Creek for a few days.

I also detected a commercial scent to the opening post and thus posted my caveat response. I love the mountain but would never advance book a trip to Taos before February. If you see the base approaching 80 inches before then, go for it.

FYI, I split the subsequent posts regarding Mt. Baldy "hijacking" this topic into their own topic.
