The Sierra crest near Tahoe recovered nicely from 3 dry weeks with about 30 inches snow Jan. 26-27. The ensuing week was very cold, but by Friday it was 15-20 degrees, off and on clouds with occasional dusting of snow. No real powder was left. We took the High Traverse to Sherwood and the unpacked snow was very chunky. But in general there was dry packed powder, only rarely scraped down to the hard surface from before the storm. Base depths are 6-10 feet so you can ski pretty much anywhere.
