With a deep base (6-10 feet) and packed powder surface Squaw Valley realizes its full potential. Both days were bluebird with no wind. Saturday attracted a substantial crowd with these conditions, and the mid-morning lift lines on Shirley Lake and Granite Chief were 10+ minutes. So after lunch we skied Silverado and Broken Arrow, which attract few people but still had excellent snow. Only south facing runs turned to spring conditions.
Feb. 3 was my 13th Super Bowl Sunday on skis, and we never waited more than about 2 minutes despite the same great weather and snow as the day before. Morning on Siberia and Headwall, after lunch Sun Bowl, then 6 runs on KT-22 including 75 Chute. After 26K of this kind of terrain, your legs feel like 40K on most mountains. And we were still back at our hotel in time for kickoff.
