As expected I awoke to steady snowfall at South Tahoe's Horizon Casino Hotel. I was now with the http://nasja.org Western Winter Summit group, hosted by Sierra and Northstar. I decided to use the group transport to Sierra so I would only have to drive around the east side of the lake in the storm. The group's bus was slow going with chains and didn't get to Sierra until 10:45 AM. Furthermore they decided in advance to leave at 2PM due to the storm.

When we arrived the Grandview chair was on wind hold so I skied until 1PM in the trees off the West Bowl chair. There was already about 6 inches new and it snowed hard the whole time I was there. West Bowl has an advanced intermediate pitch that was just about right for tree skiing in the new snow we had so far.

Lunch was supposed to be 1PM, but location had to be moved twice due to weather, and I finally found the right place just before 2PM after getting one run on Grandview. As I had worked up an appetite, I ate and skied another hour, then took Sierra's free public bus back to the Horizon and finally drove my car around to Northstar, arriving about 6PM.

Just one pic from a short day with nasty weather.
