Lloyd, Klug Grab U.S. Snowboarding PSL Titles

Steamboat Springs, CO – It was another day and another title for Lindsay Lloyd, of Centerville, Utah, who along with Aspen, Colo.’s 2010 Olympian, Chris Klug, took the U.S. Championship titles for snowboarding in parallel slalom on Saturday in Steamboat Springs.n”It’s awesome because, after having some injuries, finishing out the season strong feels great,” Lloyd said.

Lloyd was joined on the podium by Heather Herde, of Oxford, Conn., and Megan Farrell of Canada.

According to the winner, it was another day of challenges as she went for her second title.

“It was another challenging day. The snow was tricky and it started dumping in the middle of the race, but it ended up well,” Lloyd said.

On Klug’s end, he was happy to finish the season out strongly.

“It was a fun race today in Steamboat. I was happy to finish the season strong. The Steamboat race crew and Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club did an awesome job putting on a great race today,” Klug said.

According to Klug, it took him a moment to be able to get his slalom legs back underneath him.

“My focus this winter was on parallel giant slalom with the Olympics, so I didn’t spend much time on my slalom board. It took me a few runs to remember how to dance again. I felt like I was getting stronger with each run,” Klug said.

In the end, though, Klug was happy to finish out his year with success, and it was a day he will never forget.

“I wanted to finish my twentieth competition season and possibly my competitive snowboard racing career with a nationals win. I believe it was my eleventh national title today,” Klug said. “It has been a long winter on the road, but a fun ride. I’m looking forward to returning home to Aspen to host my 10th Annual Aspen Spring Snowboard Camp next weekend.”
