Wilmington, NY – Whiteface Mountain Ski Center, near Lake Placid in New York State’s Adirondack Mountains, is celebrating the holiday this Sunday with an Easter service, breakfast buffet and Easter egg hunt.nThe non-denominational Easter service begins at 8:15 a.m. at the summit of Little Whiteface atop the Cloudsplitter Gondola. In case of inclement weather, the service will be held in the Ausable Room located in the Base Lodge.
Following the service there will be an Easter buffet in Lookout Café, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. The buffet includes sausage frittatas, scrambled eggs, French toast, ham, coffee and juice, assorted baked breads, muffins and Danishes. The cost is $14.95 for adults, $11.95 for seniors and $6.95 for children under 12. An Easter egg hunt for youngsters, between the ages of 7-12, will begin at 11 a.m. on the Boreen run, where skiers will begin at the top of the trail and non-skiers at the base of the trail, while an Easter egg hunt for youngsters six and under begins at noon on the Mixing Bowl.
This is also the final Super Sunday of the ski season. It’s Retro Sunday, time to pull out the old neon one-piece ski suits and remember the days gone past. Adult lift tickets are reduced to $35, teens are $30 and juniors are $25.
This year’s pond skimming contest is slated for Saturday, April 10, at noon outside the Base Lodge. The free event is open to all skiers and riders. Contestants will be judged on distance, splash, best costume and more. Registration will take place at the Whiteface guest services desk from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
