South Lake Tahoe, CA – The 2010 SpringLoaded festival is underway at Lake Tahoe’s Heavenly Mountain Resort. A wide-range of activities are scheduled at the California ski area through Apr. 10, including the legendary Gunbarrel 25 and on-mountain concerts.nHeavenly’s annual spring break skiing and riding celebration is filled with California sunshine, spring skiing and riding, the infamous pond skimming contest, and more. Off the mountain there’s world-class entertainment, après-ski parties, and the Tahoe South Shore’s 24-hour nightlife. Also this Saturday, skiing icon Glen Plake will host Heavenly’s sixth-annual Gunbarrel 25 mogul marathon on Heavenly’s Gunbarrel bump run. The event is designed to incorporate Plake’s passion for freestyle skiing with Heavenly’s legendary spring bumps. The event is open to all advanced skiers and riders. There are multiple categories including skiers (male/female), snowboarders (male/female), under 16 (boy/girl), other (monoski, teleski, etc.); the top male and female finishers completing the most laps in the allotted time will receive the Ironman and Ironwoman awards.
The Heavenly Ski Patrol Fundraiser Beach Party will be held on top of the Gondola parking garage on Saturday, Apr. 10 beginning at 4:30 p.m. Live music will be performed by local bluegrass sensation Blue Turtle Seduction and The Devastators. Entry is a $10 donation and proceeds benefit the Special Olympics, Bob Tara Memorial Fund, and the Heavenly Professional Ski Patrol Fund. Dress in your beach best and join the party; there will be beer, wine and raffle prizes.
