Ludlow, VT – Okemo Mountain Resort will celebrate the changing of the seasons with a weekend full of events and activities for skiers and riders of all ages. This Saturday and Sunday will witness the Vermont ski and snowboard resort’s annual Slush Cup pond skimming competition, the second annual Splash for Cash contest, and an Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday.nAt Saturday’s Okemo Slush Cup, the object is to ski or snowboard down a trail and skim across an 80-foot-long slush pond without falling into it. It’s a chilly spring dip for those who don’t make it. This popular competition is open to the first 125 participants. The entry fee costs $20, and prizes will be awarded in several categories, including best costume, driest, best wipeout and more. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the pond skimming starts at 11 a.m.
Also on Saturday, one huge kicker will be built at the edge of the Slush Cup pond for the Splash for Cash. Contestants will get one shot to go big and get wet. The best freestyle tricks and biggest splashes will win top honors. Two age category winners will split the registration fees and go home with some soggy dollars in their pockets. Skiers and riders who register for both the Splash for Cash and the Slush Cup will pay $30. Splash for Cash starts at 1 p.m.
Then Okemo’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Sunday, as the ski slopes will be teeming with colored eggs stuffed with prizes, including certificates for breakfast at The Hatchery. There’s only one oversized Golden Egg hidden on one of Okemo’s trails, and the lucky bunny who finds that wins a pair of skis or a snowboard.
