Stoneham (QC), Canada – The 11th edition of the Arctic Spas Super Splash, Stoneham’s version of traditional pond skimming, will be celebrated Sunday at the base of the ski and snowboard resort north of Quebec City, as skiers and snowboarders will try to ski on water across a 120-foot-long artificial lake. The forecast is for warm temperatures and sunny skies, perfect for competitors and spectators alike.nProfessional divers from Nautilus will rescue the unsuccessful and two warm hot tubs will be set up beside the giant pool for each participant to relax and warm up in. Around 500 people attend annually, many in festive costume.
Registration costs CAN $10 to enter, and takes place at Stoneham’s base lodge beginning at 8:30 a.m. this Sunday. Practice, if you dare, runs from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with the main event getting underway at 12:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at the Bar Quatre-Foyers beginning at 4 p.m.
Those who arrive at Stoneham this weekend wearing bunny ears ski or ride for CAN $31 per adult and CAN $18 per kid, a saving of up to $20 on the regular rates.
