Snowbird, UT – After Little Cottonwood Canyon neighbor Alta Ski Area reopens this weekend for one final three-day spring fling, Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort will be the only Utah mountain still open for skiing and riding. Although some operations, including night skiing on Chickadee and the Mid-Gad Restaurant are already done for the season, Snowbird has detailed plans to continue spring ops this year through Memorial Day at the end of May.nAs of today, Snowbird is operating its Chickadee, Wilbere, Gadzoom, Little Cloud and Mineral Basin Express chairlifts, along with the Tram. The Peruvian Express/Tunnel, Gad II, Mid-Gad, Baby Thunder and Baldy Express are all done for the year.
Beginning next Monday, April 26th, through Sunday, May 2, Gadzoom and Wilbere will join the list of closed lifts, leaving Chickadee, Little Cloud, Mineral Basin Express and the Tram running. With Gadzoom shuttered, Creekside at its base will be closed for retail and tickets. Creekside bathrooms and lockers, however, will remain open to access. The Terrain Park wil also be closed for the season.
The following week, Monday, May 3rd through Sunday, May 9th, one more lift — Chickadee — will close for the season. Lift hours will be shortened to 9 a.m. through 3 p.m.
Beginning Monday, May 10th, Snowbird will scale back operations to a three-day-per-week schedule, Fridays through Sundays for the remainder of the year. Snowbird will also be open the Monday of Memorial Day, May 31st. Hours of operation of the three remaining lifts — Mineral Basin Express, Little Cloud and the Tram — will be dictated by weather and snow conditions.
