Snowbird, UT – Utah’s Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort surpassed a season-to-date snowfall total of 500 inches for the third straight year this season, thanks to a storm that blanketed the Wasatch Mountains on Friday. The Little Cottonwood Canyon resort received six inches Thursday and Friday, with another storm in the forecast for the middle of next week.nBy Monday, following the finale at neighboring Alta Ski Area on Sunday, Snowbird will be the only ski area in Utah still open for spring skiing and snowboarding. With a total snowfall of 505 inches and a mid-mountain base of 106 inches, resort officials expect that there should be ample snow to ride on through Memorial Day this year, which falls on May 31st.

“Once again, April has provided some of the best powder of the year with over 100 inches this month alone,” said Snowbird President Bob Bonar. “We’re excited to continue our tradition of offering the longest season in Utah.”

Snowbird is currently offering reduced price tickets of $62 that include the Aerial Tram, Little Cloud, Mineral Basin Express, Gadzoom and Chickadee for the extended spring riding. These lifts will operate daily, April 23 through May 9, with the exception of Gadzoom which closes this Monday and Chickadee which closes May 3. From May 10 through May 31, the Tram, Little Cloud and Mineral Basin Express lifts will operate on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only, conditions permitting. Snowbird’s last day of winter operation is slated for Memorial Day.

Snowbird summer activities will begin June 19, including the new Ropes Course, Wasatch Mining Company Gemstone Mine, Aerial Tram, Peruvian Chairlift and Tunnel, Alpine Slide, four-station climbing wall, ZipRider, Bungy Trampoline, Mechanical Bull and Inflatables.
