Salt Lake City, UT – Three people will be inducted into Utah’s Tourism Hall of Fame during the annual Utah Tourism Conference at The Riverwoods Conference Center in Logan, Utah, next month, including longtime Ski Utah marketing director Raelene Davis.nDavis has been the director of marketing of Ski Utah for the past 25 years. She was one of the creators of the Ski Utah Winter Vacation Planner, which is the main cooperative marketing piece for Utah’s winter tourism industry. When the Internet was born, she was eager to immediately create a website, and SkiUtah.com is now receiving over 700,000 page views per month in the winter season.
Davis was instrumental in creating the fourth, fifth and sixth grade ski programs, which gave children numerous opportunities to learn to ski and ski for free. Additionally, Davis is credited with convincing the National Ski and Snowboard Association to proclaim January the official learn a snow sport month. For the past two years, Utah’s governors have proclaimed January as Learn a Snow Sport month.
“Raelene has dedicated her life to Ski Utah and promoting ‘The Greatest Snow on Earth’,” said Leigh von der Esch, managing director of the Utah Office of Tourism, an agency of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
Along with Davis, Red Oelerich, publisher of the Outdoor Utah Adventure Guide, and Kathy Hanna-Smith, Director of the Carbon County Travel Bureau, form this year’s class of inductees into the Hall.
