Calgary, Canada – Calgary’s Rosalind Groenewoud has been named the 2010 Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) Overall Women’s Champion for the second year in a row. Groenewoud had impressive results this winter in both halfpipe and slopestyle, edging out fellow Canadians Dania Assaly in second and Sarah Burke in third.nGroenewoud had a strong year in Superpipe competitions, with four podiums placing her in second in the AFP Superpipe rankings, including one at X Games in Aspen and another at the inaugural Euro X Games. In slopestyle she finished in the rankings in 8th place. At a time when skiers are primarily specializing in their competition disciplines, Groenewoud has been successful in both disciplines, leading to her 2010 Overall Women’s Champion crown.
“We here at Rossignol could not be more excited for Roz,” said Matt Rihm, Team Manager for Rossignol, one of Groenewoud’s sponsors. “She trains harder then any other girl out there, and no one is more devoted to the park and pipe competition scene. Roz was just named to our international team this year, she clearly deserves the spot.”
