Park City, UT – The United States Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation has added a new member to its Board of Trustees. Thomas F. Karam, of Waverly, Penn., PA) is one of the newest Board members, who joined the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) just in time for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.n”Tom brings a legacy of support for our athletes and a great passion for ski racing,” said U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association President and CEO Bill Marolt. “His participation in our Team Torino and Team Vancouver programs has helped to bring him even closer to our programs and we’re proud to have him join our Board of Trustees.”
Karam is president and CEO of Delphi Midstream Partners, LLC, a company that focuses in the midstream energy sector. Previously Karam was CEO of Southern Union Company, Pennsylvania Enterprises, Inc. and PE Energy, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Scranton.
He presently serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Northeastern Pennsylvania. He has also created a foundation that works closely with the USSA. The T2 Foundation has helped aspiring elite potential Olympic athletes with costs for travel, training, and education.
“I am excited to join this board of trustees and play a role in helping to continue to field the best possible Olympic athletes in skiing and snowboarding in the world,” said Karam.
Karam and his wife, Flora, both enjoy skiing as well as spending time with their children, Elizabeth, 23, and Thomas, 17. Karam became involved with the winter sport when he realized it was a great family outing. Their children grew up ski racing. Elizabeth raced at Saint Lawrence University and Thomas continues to race USSA and FIS events.
Karam said he looks forward to bringing his passion and love for skiing to the Board of Trustees.
“I have great respect for the other Trustees and Bill Marolt’s management team,” said Karam. “I’m happy to play whatever small role I can in making the organization better and helping our athletes succeed.”
