Squaw Valley to Reopen for Memorial Day Weekend Skiing

Squaw Valley, CA – Squaw Valley USA has announced the reopening of the California resort’s ski lifts to allow for skiing and snowboarding this Saturday and Sunday for Memorial Day weekend.nThe incessant wintry weather throughout May and remaining snowpack on the mountain will allow the resort to open its upper mountain Shirley Lake lift to skiers and snowboarders over Memorial Day weekend. Available terrain will include beginner and intermediate runs. Uploading and downloading will be via the Cable Car.

“This winter has never quit,” commented Jimmy King, Squaw Valley’s Mountain Manager. “We took a look at it and the conditions on the upper mountain are fabulous. There’s mid-January snow up there.”

High Camp, Squaw Valley’s upper mountain recreation and dining facility will also will be open this weekend offering mountain top sightseeing, cocktails and dining. High Camp is open for summer operations on weekends until June 12, when it opens with daily ice skating, swimming, dining, hiking and more through the summer.

Hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Lift tickets priced at $44 include free access to the High Camp Swimming Lagoon & Spa. Kids 12 and under will pay $10, while 2010-11 Bronze Passholders ski for $25. It’s free for 2010-11 Silver, Gold and Platinum Passholders. The last download on the Cable Car is at 5 p.m.
