Laramie, WY – On the market since 2008, Wyoming’s Snowy Range ski area was purchased last week by a Colorado couple who plan to continue the resort’s familiy-oriented tradition. The purchase price was not disclosed.nAaron and Becky Maddox, who hail from the northern Colorado community of Walden, began talks with potential investors in January after learning that the ski area, operated for the past two seasons by First National Bank, may not reopen this winter. The family has long ties to the area — Aaron was born and raised in nearby Steamboat Springs, Colo., while Becky Maddox is a fourth-generation Laramie native.
The couple plans to maintain the status quo at the ski area, which primarily offers intermediate terrain. They plan to continue affordability for the Laramie-area community, but in order to invigorate interest in the ski area, season passholders will be given the opportunity to add five days of skiing at Steamboat for an additional $129.
