U.S. Paralympic Skier Jones Wins Paracycling World Champs

Baie-Comeau (QC), Canada – American Paralympic skiing medalist Allison Jones, of Steamboat Springs, Colo., added to her hardware collection Thursday, winning the 2010 UCI Paracycling World Championships in Baie-Comeau.nJones competed on the U.S. Adaptive Alpine Ski Team for nine years, competing in three Paralympic Winter Games. She also competed in two Paralympic Summer Games in cycling. Jones won her first gold in the C2 category.

Jones was born without a right femur. When her family moved from Texas to Colorado, she began skiing at age 5. She was racing by the time she was 8 years old, working up through Winter Park’s renowned disabled program and reaching the U.S. Team by the 2001 season.
