Southeast Prepares for Ski Shows

Fort Lauderdale, FL – Retailer Peter Glenn Ski & Sports has announced the official start of winter for skiers and snowboarders in the southeastern U.S. with the return of the Fort Lauderdale Ski and Snowboard Show, Oct. 1-3, and the Atlanta Ski Show, Oct. 22-24. Combined, the shows represent the largest and oldest ski and snowboard events in the Southeast featuring a one-weekend-only exclusive merchandise sale, a one-stop shop for discount winter travel packages at resorts around the country, a winter clothing drive and activities for the entire family.nEach show includes more than 10,000 square feet devoted to over $1 million of winter and outdoor merchandise with savings up to 70%, and an exhibitors’ area featuring equipment manufacturers, airlines, specialty travel agencies, tour operators and resorts in the United States and Canada. A national partnership with the charity, One Warm Coat, encourages guests to donate warm winter clothing for distribution in the local community. In exchange for a gently worn winter jacket, guests will receive $10 off the purchase of a new winter jacket at the show.

“For anyone planning a ski or snowboard vacation or just enjoying what forecasters predict will be a winter colder than the last, this is a once-a-year opportunity to get a jump on the season with great values, to stretch the dollar and multiply the savings on merchandise and leisure activities,” states David Mahoney, Peter Glenn Ski & Sports’ marketing director.

The Fort Lauderdale show, now in its 21st year, will be held at the Broward County Convention Center, at 1950 Eisenhower Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. Activities include a rock climbing wall, a ski/snowboard simulator and a bounce house children’s area. Admission costs $5 per person, and is free for children 16 and under.

The Atlanta show, now in its 15th year, will be held at Center Court at the Galleria Specialty Mall, located at 42A Galleria Parkway NW in Atlanta. Admission is free.
