NZ Ski to Host Four Years of New Zealand National Alpine Championships

Queenstown, New Zealand – Snow Sports New Zealand–Alpine (SSNZ–Alpine) has announced that NZ Ski, owners of Coronet Peak and Mt. Hutt ski areas, will host the next four years of the New Zealand National Alpine Championships. The event will be comprised of the super G, giant slalom and slalom for able bodied athletes as well as adaptive athletes.n“SSNZ-Alpine is pleased that NZ Ski is making such a significant commitment to our sport and to our athletes by putting forth the resources to host this event for the next four years,” said James Lazor, Alpine Manager, SSNZ–Alpine. “They have outstanding facilities and will no doubt host a world class event that will showcase our athletes and the facilities to participants and spectators throughout New Zealand and around the world.”

Both Coronet Peak and Mt. Hutt have established themselves as world-class alpine skiing competition venues. In the past, this event has had athletes from over 29 nations represented and included some of the top World Cup and Olympic skiers.

2010 NZ National Alpine Championships Schedule:

  • Monday, Aug. 30 at Coronet Peak – Men’s and Women’s Giant Slalom
  • Tuesday, Aug. 31 at Coronet Peak – Men’s and Women’s Slalom
  • Monday, Sept. 6 at Mt. Hutt – Men’s and Women’s Super G
