Ski Film Screening in Boulder to Raise Funds for Eldora Racers

Boulder, CO – The Eldora Mountain Ski and Snowboard Club (EMSC) will host a film fundraiser at the Boulder Theater Sept. 30 featuring Chris Davenport’s “Australis: An Antarctic Ski Odyssey”. The film’s screening in Boulder will support the growing EMSC program and assist with the Lake Eldora Racing Team’s (LERT) “Elite Team” project to provide coaching resources for some of the country’s top aspiring athletes looking to someday ski on the U.S. Team or in the NCAA program.nThe film focuses on Davenport’s expedition to Antarctica, and also includes a “Question and Answer” session with Davenport regarding various related projects such as his book that chronicles skiing all of Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks. Davenport will be signing copies of his book as well, and there will be numerous door prizes offered, ranging from free Chipolte and Larkburger meal coupons, to Spyder clothing and Kastle skis.

The Elite Team is designed for ski racers 18 to 21 years old who have graduated from high school and want to pursue their athletic dreams at the highest level. All athletes invited to join the Elite Team are FIS-licensed racers who compete at national levels.
Through a partnership with the University of Colorado, the program allows these athletes to pursue a college degree in balance with their training. The Elite Team also provides continuity, stability and mentorship for athletes emerging from the youth programs LERT operates through the Eldora Mountain Ski and Snowboard Club.

“I am excited to bring my new film, ‘Australis: An Antarctic Ski Odyssey’, to the Boulder Theater. This will be the first official showing of the film in North America, and I couldn’t think of a better place to premiere it,” said Davenport. “Our epic ski adventure to Antarctica and the production of the film have been amazingly rewarding experiences that I’m stoked to
share with the ski community in Boulder. Additionally, the opportunity to use this film to raise money for the Lake Eldora Race Team and inspire these young athletes makes me very proud.”

The Boulder Theater is located at 2032 14th Street in Boulder, Colo. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30, and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.
