Alta, WY – Grand Targhee Resort President and General Manager F. Scott Pierpont recently left the resort to explore his passion for lift operations. Pierpont will become the Vice President of Sales for lift manufacturer Doppelmayr CTEC, while Grand Targhee Resort wwner Geordie Gillett will assume the role of President.n“We are very proud when our employees are recognized within the industry for their expertise,” said Gillett. “Scott helped to position us for long term success by assembling an incredibly talented management team and I wish him the best in his new venture.”
At the same time, Karen Cameron will serve as interim General Manager. Cameron has been with Grand Targhee Resort for four years as the Director of Risk Management and Human Resources. She joined Grand Targhee Resort after 12 years working in the ski industry, most recently as the Risk Manager for nearby Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
“I am excited to head into our 41st winter season working with such an experienced team,” said Cameron. “I look forward to continuing the vision and values of Grand Targhee that have inspired an extraordinary passion for this resort among our employees and guests.”
Pete Kelly will assume the role of interim Director of Mountain Operations. Kelly joined Grand Targhee Resort in 2009 as the Facilities Manager, after 10 years in construction management. The resort plans to fill the Director of Mountain Operations position permanently by the 2010-11 winter season.
Jim Costello has joined Grand Targhee Resort with over 25 years of experience in the ski and hospitality industry as the Director of Sales and Marketing. Costello headed west from Bethel, Maine, where he was the Vice President of Brand Management at Sunday River Ski and Golf Resort. Before joining Sunday River, he was the Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Sugarloaf Mountain Resort.
Also, Joe Calder has been selected as the new Ski Patrol Director at Grand Targhee Resort. Calder joined Grand Targhee Resort in the winter of 1992 as a Lift Operator and Ski Instructor and was most recently the Ski Patrol Supervisor with the Grand Targhee Ski Patrol. Calder and his Springer Spaniel mix Otter are participating members of the Grand Targhee K-9 avalanche rescue dog team.
