Park City, UT – The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation has named Chicago investment manager Brian Simmons to its Board of Trustees. Simmons, an active skier, is managing partner and one of three co-founders of CHS Capital LLC.n”Brian brings a great scope of business background and strategic vision to our board in addition to his passion for the sport,” said U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) President and CEO, Bill Marolt. “We’re proud to invite him onto our board to help us not only in Chicago, but nationwide.”
Simmons is actively involved in all aspects of CHS’ business, a company that manages over $2.5 billion of private equity partnerships. He was involved in starting the firm in 1988. Prior to that, he was a vice president with Citicorp’s Leveraged Capital Group in Chicago as well as serving as an officer of Mellon Bank Corporation.
“I have the greatest admiration for our ski and snowboarding athletes and their vision of being best in the world,” said Simmons. “I am proud to lend my background in business and my network of contacts to help provide even greater opportunities for our athletes to excel.”
A graduate of Cornell University, Simmons is active on many Chicago area boards including the Chicago Public Education Fund, Latin School of Chicago, Greater Chicago Food Depository, and the Lincoln Park Zoo.
He and his wife, Julie, have two children. They reside in Chicago and have a ski home in Aspen.
“We have been fortunate to have strong support in Chicago and Brian will help to enhance that further,” said USSA’s Vice President, Foundation Trace Worthington.
Simmons is already active with the Chicago Ski and Snowboard Ball, one of the Team’s most successful annual events which is slated for Friday, Nov. 12 at The Standard Club.
