Mammoth Ski Season Starts Thursday

Mammoth Lakes, CA – The timing of Sunday’s snowstorm in Mammoth Lakes couldn’t be better, as Mammoth Mountain Ski Area will launch its winter season this Thursday.nIn its wake, the storm left 14-24 inches on the Sierra ski resort. In addition, temperatures are staying cold, allowing snowmakers to work at full blast.

For opening day on Thursday, Mammoth is planning to operate the Broadway Express, Face Lift Express, Thunder Bound Express and Discovery Chair. Terrain openings are subject to snow conditions.

Mammoth will celebrate the new ski season with the Big Winter Kick Off this weekend. Events on the schedule begin with the first chair of the season, the Annual Opening Day Champagne Toast and live music by the Pyronauts on the Main Lodge Sundeck and an evening Winter Launch Party featuring Transworld Snowboarding’s 200th issue, all on Thursday, and will continue into the weekend with a concert by Sweden’s The Sounds in their only U.S. appearance, the world premiere of “Another Day in Paradise” and other parties and celebrations lasting into Sunday.
