Beaupre (QC), Canada – Quebec’s Mont-Sainte-Anne resort has taken advantage of colder air atop its alpine ski resort to set up a new cross-country skiing loop on the summit of the mountain, available exclusively for training camps. The 1 km loop will be located on the west side of the gondola summit station, where natural snowfall is augmented by snowmaking capability.nOpening this Saturday, the same day as the alpine ski resort’s season opening, Nordic skiers will have to take the gondola to the summit to access their exclusive cross country trail. Teams from Quebec, Ontario and the eastern United States are expected to use the training facility.
Also this season, the resort has named Alex Harvey an official ambassador of Mont-Sainte-Anne. Harvey is already an ambassador of Nordic skiing in Quebec and the rest of Canada. Through his website and newsletter, he has inspired many young people to engage in Nordic skiing, whether on a competitive or recreational basis. Harvey is originally from St.-Ferreol-les-Neiges, adjacent to the ski area and spent his early days learning to ski and race at the mountain.
