New Glades, Heli-Skiing and Touring This Ski Season at Mount Washington

Comox Valley (BC), Canada – Coming off its second snowiest season on record, Vancouver Island’s Mount Washington Resort is set to break out the skis and boards with new gladed tree skiing, heli-skiing and backcountry touring this winter.nOver 40 hectares, or 100 acres of brand new glades thinned on the front side of Little Washington Peak are set to redefine this mountain landscape this winter. Easily accessed off the Boomerang Chair, the new tree lines push the resort’s total skiable terrain to 687 hectares, or 1,700 acres. They’ll join other recent terrain expansions, including the Goodtime Glades and the challenging Outback area.

An enhanced partnership with Island Alpine Guides will open up the backside of Mount Washington, and all its secret powder stashes, to guided backcountry ski tours. Or, if you’ve ever gazed longingly at the untracked peaks visible from the top of Mount Washington, pine no more as Island Alpine Guides is set to introduce heli-skiing into this sought-after terrain for the first time ever. Departing from the resort’s Raven Lodge, full-day packages to nearby descents on Vancouver Island’s peaks will be sure to please powder pioneers.
