Snowshoe, WV – Looking around the village at Snowshoe Mountain Resort on Monday, it’s hard to believe that the West Virginia ski and snowboard resort was forced to delay its scheduled season opening for a lack of snow. But with 20 inches accumulating over the weekend and snowmaking efforts in full force since last Wednesday, resort officials have now moved the season debut up two days to tomorrow.n

Snowshoe will open at 9 a.m. with a 20 to 24-inch base across 14 slopes accessed by four lifts, including the Ballhooter high-speed quad. Additional snow is forecast to fall by Wednesday.
The resort’s Silver Creek area is slated to open on Dec. 17, but Snowshoe intends to open additional terrain in the Snowshoe Basin area before that time. The resort will open with terrain park features available in the Spruce Glades terrain park, as well as a variety of available amenities, including restaurants, shops, The Big Top Entertainment Center, Split Rock Pools and more.
