Canceled Birds of Prey Downhill Moved to Norway

Avon, CO – The canceled Audi Birds of Prey downhill, originally slated for Friday, Dec. 3 at Beaver Creek ski resort in Colorado, will be made up on Friday, Mar. 11, 2011 in Kvitfjell, Norway, the International Ski Federation (FIS) has announced. Kvitfjell is the final men’s World Cup weekend prior to World Cup Finals and will now feature back-to-back downhill races and a super G.nDespite incredible snow conditions and two successful training runs at Beaver Creek, organizers were forced to cancel the downhill last Friday due to strong winds on the course. Saturday’s super G was won by Georg Streitberger of Austria, while Park City, Utah’s Ted Ligety captured the season opening giant slalom.

The original men’s GS opener slated for Oct. 24 in Soelden, Austria was canceled due to fog and will not be replaced.
