Idaho Ski Patroller Suffers Heart Attack, Falls From Lift

Ririe, ID – A ski patroller at Kelly Canyon Ski Resort in Ririe died Saturday after suffering a fatal heart attack and falling from a chairlift.nSteven Edward Yount, 52, of Shelley, Idaho, was conducting pre-season maintenance along with other ski patrollers Saturday when he went into cardiac arrest while riding the chairlift, according to officials with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Fellow patrollers administered CPR but were unable to revive Yount.

When weather hampered efforts to fly a Life Flight helicopter to the scene, Yount was transported by ground ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy completed Sunday indicated that Yount died of a massive cardiac arrest.
