Steamboat Springs, CO – The USA’s Vic Wild led the U.S. Monday with fourth in the Race to the Cup parallel giant slalom in Steamboat Springs. Leading an Austrian podium sweep were snowboarders Benjamin Karl and Julia Dujmovits, who beat the field to take top honors.nJust days after the World Cup in Telluride, alpine riders took to the starting gate in Steamboat for a snowy day of snowboard racing. Karl clinched the victory with Austrians Anton Unterkofler and Andre Prommegger in second and third.

“The people in Steamboat did a great job of doing what they could in pretty tough conditions to make the race happen,” said Wild, of White Salmon, Wash.

Wild, who finished just shy of the podium in fourth after winning the qualifier, led two fellow Americans into the top 10 with Tyler Jewell (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) in sixth and Michael Trapp (Hyannis, Mass.) in 10th.

“I have heart and am giving it all the time,” Wild said. “I could have won today. I’m bummed to let the Austrians go one, two, three.”

In the women’s bracket, Dujmovits claimed the win leading an Austrian podium sweep with Heidi Neuruer and Patrizia Kummer in second and third. Heather Herde (Oxford, Conn.) was the top female American in seventh.
